The purpose of the RNSF is to provide financial support for innovative projects and programs beyond what is covered by the school district’s annual operating budget. While our teachers, administrators and Board of Education do a terrific job within the constraints of the budget, the RNSF seeks to provide further financial support outside of the district’s budget to improve the educational experiences of our students and fund cutting-edge curricular and technology improvements.
The Superintendent and a designated member of the Board of Education are non-voting members of the RNSF Board of Directors. The district assists the RNSF in evaluating proposed grants to ensure their educational value, relevance to the curriculum, and alignment with district goals.
The RNSF, PTSA and Booster Club are separate organizations with similar visions – to enrich the lives and experiences of Rye Neck students. The RNSF complements the work done by the PTSA and Booster Club to improve our schools. While the PTSA and Booster Club take actives roles in the daily lives of students by supporting communication, educational assemblies and supplies, and athletic and community traditions, the RNSF differs from those organizations in that it has one purpose – to funds grant requests, primarily from teachers and administrators, for curriculum enhancements, upgrades to equipment and facilities, and other experiential learning opportunities.
The RNSF is a not-for-profit organization consisting of an all-volunteer Board of Directors with no staff or office space. Our expenses are mainly event and operations-driven and all net proceeds are donated to the schools through the grant process.
Many other communities throughout Westchester County have foundations to support their schools, including Rye, Mamaroneck, Harrison, Port Chester, Chappaqua, Bronxville, Byram Hills, Scarsdale, Dobbs Ferry, Irvington, and Edgemont, among others.
The RNSF welcomes financial donations of any size from families, faculty, alumni and community members, as well as donations from other sources, including corporate donations, charitable gifts and employer matching. Donations are tax-deductible as permitted by law. These contributions are then used annually to fund grants that provide new equipment, programs, curricular innovations, teacher training and tools that make Rye Neck an even stronger academic institution.
